Explore the magical and creative world of Gourds at Santa Paula Art Museum’s Cole Creativity Center! The unique, organic curves and shapes of natural, dried gourds are a perfect template for building your own creations. Learn techniques for shaping, painting, carving, and embellishing original gourd artworks, as well as tools and resources to continue your practice.
This is two-part course will meet on Wednesday, December 11; and Thursday, December 12, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
This class is for ages 16 and over. The cost of the two-part course is $80 per person. All skill levels are welcome and all materials are provided. Preregistration is required and space is limited. The course will be held inside SPAM’s Cole Creativity Center located at 123 N 10th St., Santa Paula, CA. Free parking is available directly behind the building and students may enter through the front or back door.
About Our Teaching Artists:
Henny Shepherd is a life-long artist with experience in nearly every medium, including woodworking, mosaic, watercolors, photography, embroidery, crochet, and natural gourd art. Her subject matter is always derived from nature, natural forms, and the richness of the earth and its gifts.
Meleese Siegler combines her interest in art, nature, hiking, and woodworking, with her art studio experience to form an artistic practice that expresses the fullness of nature and its abundance.
