On Sunday, September 10, the Santa Paula Art Museum’s beautiful atrium gallery will be transformed into a concert hall for “Studio C,” a contemporary four-horn, nine-piece jazz band. Studio C’s sound is completely unique and its music is reminiscent of the Big Band era, a la Basie, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, and Glenn Miller. Accompanying the band will be vocalist April Brandenburg performing selections from the Great American Song Book. Admission to the concert is $10.00 for Santa Paula Art Museum members and $15.00 for non-members. The performance begins at 4:00 p.m.
Studio C is comprised of some of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties’ most versatile musicians, including Larry Cossid (bandleader, saxes and flute), April Brandenburg (vocals), Chuck Mullett (saxes), Stan Hernacki (trumpet), Bob Goodwin (trombone), Tom Hackney (keyboard), George Cole (guitar), Vance Beach (bass), and Dave Brooks (drums). The band’s set list will include both standard and contemporary jazz tunes from some of the best known arrangers, with several songs either written and/or arranged exclusively for Studio C. Tickets may be purchased at the door for this can’t-miss concert!
