Create unique wall-hanging clay sculptures intertwined with fiber in this exciting new workshop! Join teaching artist and Kiln Tech Jynell Dimalanta as she walks students though foundational techniques in ceramics for all skill levels. How can you hang ceramics? Utilizing high-fire wire, students will learn how to imbed hanging loops to safely and securely hang these beautiful works of art! We can’t wait to see you there!

This is course will be taught Two consecutive Saturdays: March 1, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. & March 8, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. 2025

This workshop is for ages 16 and over. The cost of this course is $100 per person. All skill levels are welcome and all materials are provided. Preregistration is required and space is limited. The course will be held inside the Cole Creativity Center located at 123 N 10th St, Santa Paula, CA. Free parking is available directly behind the building and students may enter through the front or back door.

All 4-week courses include FREE Open Studio hours on Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A complimentary 5 pounds of clay will be provided per week to current students. This resource is available to current students only and open studio space is granted on a first come, first serve basis. Our Kiln Technician is onsite to answer any questions during Open Studio hours.

*Please note: Long nails can make working with clay frustrating. We recommend trimming your nails down before attending class. Clay is also very messy, so please dress in clothing you don’t mind getting stained and covered in clay. You are welcome to bring an apron and towel/rag for wiping your hands throughout the process. Long hair must be pulled back as a safety precaution.

 

About Our Teaching Artist:

Jynell Dimalanta is a working artist living in Ventura, and a graduate of California State University Channel Islands. She has been working with clay for over a decade and works part-time as a production potter and part-time as an art educator.

She received her bachelor's degree in 2019 with an emphasis in ceramic arts and graphic design and has studied under Marianne McGrath, Jenchi Wu, and Roger Lee.
