Join us for an exciting painting class where imagination meets reality! In this engaging course, students will delve into the world of imaginative realism, exploring how to bring basic shapes to life through a practical approach using black and white acrylics. Teaching artist Dev O’Reilly will walk students through fundamental drawing and acrylic techniques that serve as a foundation for their artistic journey. With a focus on unique robotic creations, students will engage in a comprehensive design process that includes, research, inspiration gathering, and refinement. Whether you’re a beginner looking to explore your creativity or an experienced artist seeking to refine your skills, this class offers a supportive environment to experiment and express your artistic vision.
This six-part course will be taught on six consecutive Saturdays: March 1, March 8, March 15, March 22, March 29, April 5, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
This class is for ages 16 and over. The cost of the six-part course is $200 per person. All skill levels are welcome and all materials are provided. Preregistration is required and space is limited. The course will be held inside SPAM’s Cole Creativity Center located at 123 N 10th St., Santa Paula, CA. Free parking is available directly behind the building and students may enter through the front or back door.

About Our Teaching Artist:
Born and raised in Ventura County, Dev O’Reilly received a BSA with an emphasis in design and illustration from CSUCI. He specializes in surrealistic painting, graphic design, and digital illustration. Since 2018 Dev has been the exclusive artist for Institution Ale Company and designed over 125 beer labels for the company. Outside of the commercial art world, he’s pushed his traditional painting abilities to create dark, fun, and mischievous works of art, highlighting his love for the nostalgia of Halloween through detailed rendering and unique design.
