Free Family Day: Día de los Muertos

Guests of all ages are invited to celebrate Día de los Muertos at two locations in downtown Santa Paula on Saturday, November 2, 2024! This free, family-friendly community celebration at the Santa Paula Art Museum and Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery offers traditional craft-making activities, music, altar installations, and more. Día de los Muertos attire is encouraged! Admission is free for everyone.

Visitors can begin at either of the two locations and proceed to the next. Free parking is available at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery and the Santa Paula Art Museum. Hours and activities vary by location. Please see the schedule of events below:

Día de los Muertos activities from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Families are invited to drop in the Santa Paula Art Museum’s Cole Creativity Center to make their own clay skulls, candles, calavera drawings, and nichos. Guests will also enjoy special Día de los Muertos art exhibitions by artists Haya Cuzick, John Talevich, and Alek Talevich.

In honor of Día de los Muertos, Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery will celebrate with a day of festivities for family and friends. Build an ofrenda on a loved one’s grave or contribute to a community altar. Activities will include Aztec and Folklórico dancers, Mariachi music, face painting, sugar skull decorating, crafts, vendors, and more. Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. with the blessing of graves to follow by Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.
