On Thursday, September 26, 2019, artist Jackie Blue will perform a public art demonstration at the Santa Paula Art Museum starting at 2:00pm. Admission to the demonstration is free. Blue will demonstrate the pastel process by painting one of her favorite locations, the headlands at Point Dume in Malibu. She’ll be working from one of her many photos of the area. The finished painting will then be raffled off at the end of the demonstration to one lucky member of the audience, with each attendee receiving a free raffle ticket. The demo is being held in concert with the Santa Paula Art Museum’s current exhibition On Location in the Santa Monica Mountains and Seashore.
Jackie Blue is a graduate of Cal State Northridge with a degree in Art History. She started drawing and painting while watching Jon Gnagy’s TV show “You Are an Artist" back in the 50s and is still at it. She is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of the West Coast and her work has been selected and juried into many national and international shows. She serves on the board of the Allied Artists of the Santa Monica Mountains & Seashore and paints en plein air and in her Malibu studio. Her work can be see at the Malibu Gallery and the Forest & Ocean Gallery in Laguna Beach. Her education journey continues as she takes workshops in both oil and pastel painting from master painters such as Richard McKinley, Kim Lordier, Jacob Aguilar, and Barbara Jaenicke.
