Conejo Valley oil painter Shannon Celia has recently been on an artistic “Odyssey Through Oxnard.” Celia loves diving into her community and encouraging people to see what’s here. Her paintings highlight landmarks we usually don’t notice, so that we can see them in a new way. And she doesn’t shy away from “painting the gritty with the pretty.” During her talk on Saturday, November 3, Celia will reveal what inspired her journey through Oxnard, and how it evolved to include an artist-in-residency, a public art project in downtown Oxnard, and an entire series of paintings. The artist will also talk about her current painting adventures in Santa Paula - her so-called "Santa Paula Sojourn” - which will culminate in a solo exhibition at the Santa Paula Art Museum in 2020. Shannon Celia is a member of The Westlake Village Art Guild, a California Art Club associate member, a Studio Channel Islands member, and an American Women Artists Associate Artist with Distinction. The cost of admission to the talk is $4.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors, and free for students and members.
