Join us for Free Family Day inside SPAM’s Cole Creativity Center on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Our guest artists in May are the Ventura Modern Quilt Guild, who will guide participants to sit down at a real sewing machine and stitch fabric. Families can take home what they make or contribute to a community quilt. Guests will also be invited to try various hand stitches to embroider a bookmark (child-safe plastic sewing needles will be available). Enjoy a pop-up exhibit of quilts by VMQG members as well! Ventura’s IDEA Center Makerspace will be adding to the fun with a machine to demonstrate and let participants try screen printing on fabric. Admission is free, all are welcome, and all materials are provided.
Fun fact: Santa Paula is home to three museums, all of which offer free admission on the first Sunday of every month. Make a day of it and visit the Santa Paula Art Museum, the Museum of Ventura County’s Agriculture Museum, and the Aviation Museum of Santa Paula. Hours and activities will vary by location, so be sure to check each museum’s website or Facebook page for full details. (Please note, the California Oil Museum is currently closed.)
